The Meeting Space, 2022!

Updated: Oct 5, 2023

In March, Co-Director Jonathan Flearmoy was invited to attend The Meetings Space spring industry forum in Dubai! Jonathan described the experience as a perfect opportunity to rekindle existing relationships and build new ones – he met with some fantastic buyers and suppliers whilst also experiencing the remarkable attractions that Dubai has to offer.

We spoke with him to hear all about his trip:

Delegates from around the world arrived in Dubai on Thursday. They were hosted at the brand new 25 Hours Hotel – boasting over 430 stylish rooms, versatile events spaces and five restaurants and bars. The quirky styling affords each bedroom with its own individual character, and macramé hanging chairs and the open-plan bed & bathrooms were a great talking point with everyone at the event.

That afternoon, there was time for a quick relax in the stunning infinity pool at the 25 Hours Hotel before heading to welcome drinks, food and entertainment for the evening.

Friday morning kicked off a full day of invaluable meetings with some fantastic international suppliers from Turkey to Croatia to Dubai.

For the evening, delegates were taken on a desert adventure – dune bashing in a convoy of 4x4’s before arriving at a sunset champagne reception where they had a demonstration in falconry. Then they were taken off again in convoy for barbecue, drinks, and dancing in the desert night.

Saturday, the final day of the forum, included another morning of meetings before a half day experience at Aquaventure, the world’s largest waterpark, located at the Atlantis Hotel. Jonathan described this as one of the highlights of the trip: “amazing fun and a great way to unwind and act like a big kid on an adrenaline rush”. Being home to the world's tallest waterslide, this waterpark is definitely worth its salt and provides more than enough thrill and adrenaline to go around.

That evening, delegates relaxed and dined at The Palace in the heart of the city, admiring superb views of the Dubai Fountains and the Burj Tower.

Jonathan was then fortunate enough to attend the Experience Day on Sunday where he was able to explore even more of Dubai and stayed the night in the the St. Regis Dubai, The Palm. Delegates “cleared the cobwebs” with a speedy rib boat ride to the Anantara World Islands Resort, located on an idyllic private island.

Later in the day, they enjoyed champagne and took in the sights on the top of The View at the Palm as the sun went down. And then it was all wrapped up with a final outstanding dinner at the Raffles Hotel.

All in all, the experience was an unforgettable one, packed with amazing views, hotels and offerings. Jonathan comments that the forum was “inspiring and an extraordinary way to kick off in-person events again” and he extends a huge thank-you to The Meetings Space for being such amazing hosts and for putting on such a well-organised, fantastic event.
